"Thriving Together"

"Thriving Together" was commissioned by the Town of Montague in 2014 for Canada's 150th anniversary of the meeting of the Fathers of Confederation in Charlottetown, PEI.

The mural is a snapshot of a typical family working together to harvest the crop. Most of the work was by hand, hard work but necessary for everyone to live a comfortable life. I love the interactions of the different family members, no cell phones here to interrupt! Each person did what he or she was capableof doing; the potatoes went into the cellar of the farmhouse for the winter and children were taught early in life what was expected of them. Physically we have it so much easier than our ancestors but sometimes their communication was much better.
