May 16th saw a group of artists band together to form the Artisans on Main Gallery. Situated in the beautiful town of Montague, we are located in a prime area next to the Post Office on Main Steet. It is a pretty town and services many small villages and communities in the southeastern part of Prince Edward Island.

It was quite a challenge to get a bunch of artists who did not necessarily even know each other to form such a partnership but we have and already I have made friends with some who I know will likely be in my life forever.

We have painters in oil, watercolour and acrylic, hookers, quilters, photographers, sculptors, and jewellry makers. Such a wonderful, diverse group and all drawn together by a passion to create.

If you are in Edward Island, come to see us. Come see what you will fall in love with!

Hello Everyone

The time has come to advise you that there is a new look for my website, if you haven’t been there for a while. Please take a peak at the site and you will see that I have been able to fill a page called "New Paintings" So now if you want to see the most current paintings, this is the page to look for.

As you can see, I have been very busy doing what I love best. Every time I finish a new painting, I marvel that I can actually do this! As soon as one canvas gets finished, another takes its place on my easel because there is always something else I need to create.

In two days, Saturday, May 09, the Southern Kings Art Council is sponsoring a special art show, "Meet Our Artists" which will be held at the Kaylee Hall at Poole’s Corner near Montague from 10:00 to 4:00 pm. We will have at least 35 artists and artisans of many genres from the eastern end of Prince Edward Island at this event. For those of you who are near here, there is no admission and there will be lovely door prizes. Our purpose is to showcase the enormous amount of talent and skill that abounds on this eastern end of our beautiful province. I will be attending as a participant and a member of the Council and hope to see you there. If you come and I haven’t met you, please introduce yourself to me. This will be the day before Mother’s Day and what a perfect place to buy a gift for that very deserving person!

In September I will be teaching painting atSenior’s College at Plough the Waves in Wood Islands. Teaching keeps me on my toes and it’s so great to see someone express him or herself in a different way and to see that person little by little understand that special feeling when you get a "break-through" and realize that it really isn’t that hard to produce a lovely painting. I do believe we all have it in us to paint even though we all know that no one else could be a Rembrandt. That doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy the process and maybe even hang what you produce. The course will be starting on September 28th and run for eight weeks with the class being one day a week, three hours a day. Beginners and more skilled students will be in the same class; It’s like having a support group because, in painting, you are constantly evolving.

This evolution is the reason that our painting group, "The Brush-Offs" has been meeting once a week for four years. There is always something to learn from each other and our group is definitely about sharing our abilities with each other. We just can’t wait for that one day a week to roll around and each one of us has reported having feelings of being dis-jointed if we are separated for any length of time!

Although I have some of my paintings in galleries for the summer, there a number still in my studio/home. My phone number and address are in my website and if you should ever be in the area and wish to see my paintings, please call so we could set up an appointment. It would be great to see you.

Thank you for taking a couple of minutes to read my newsletter. Enjoy spring ... the winter has been very long and summer is coming!
